Italy 2011: Snapshots

I’m back!  I’m home and I am not taking that fact for granted.  I learned this year that travel can be fraught with difficulty and a smooth road should be considered a tremendous gift.  The really amazing thing is that it took me five senior trips to come to this reality.  As always, God is good.

Rather than write a detailed diary of our trip as I did last year, I think I will present a series of “snapshots.”  I am not referring to actual pictures here, though I did take a camera for the first time in several years and  will post a few of my pictures along the way.  The trip this year can be seen as a little series of lessons learned and those are what I want to share.  Some of my entries will be serious; some will be tongue-in-cheek, and of course, there will be at least one rant just to prove my authorship.

Here are a few pictures to get us in an Italy frame of mind.

The Duomo, Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Baptistry of St. John in Florence by night

The Umbrian country side from the walls of Orvieto

                                                  Beautiful, beautiful Roma

Ciao, for now.  Anything I wrote now would involve too much jet lag to be safe for publication.
